That Blank Stare

Okay, so this is what happened to that
piece of paper that was staring at me for several days now.
I had so much fun combining acrylics, dyes, colored pencils and
markers to achieve this look.
Any suggestions as to a name?

Friday Photo-Op: Falling in Love

Autumn could possibly be my new favorite season.
After driving around one day this week on a gorgeous, sunny day, with my
camera sitting next to me in the passenger seat of my car, I felt myself
falling in love.  The colors were absolutely breathtaking!  Intoxicating!
I really don't remember the colors of Fall being this intense.
I'm glad I had my camera with me that day because
I do think that was about the last of it.  The trees are just
about bare today, only a few leaves remain dangling from the branches.
But we have photos to remember...

It's Not Always Black or White

It's Not Always Black and White

This collage was inspired by two new paintings (below) of mine.
I've been applying multiple layers of colors and textures and
watching how they play against each other and POP against the
black.

ARTISTIC ANIMALS LOOKING FOR HOMES

Yes!  It's true.  All these funky, whimsical, artistic animals are looking
for homes.  I have many old and new animal friends in my studio.
They keep multiplying when I'm not looking and I don't want to
run out of space for them.
  I'm also
quite fearful that the giraffe's necks will soon be laden with
arthritis due to the inability of full extension.   I have a site set-up
here where you can go if you're interested in bringing
one of these creatures into your home.
Thank you.

Friday Photo-Op: Changing Times

These are the colors in my neck of the woods lately;
deep persimmons, royal plums, hunter greens, cranberry.
Ironically I took these photos this past summer up North a bit
in Rhode Island but when I was recently playing with the images, I
saw Halloween, Thanksgiving and all things Autumn.
This weekend (at least in these parts) we get that extra hour which
causes some enjoyment alongside a bit of confusion. Right now I believe
I have it straight; next week at this time it will really be 1:40 instead of
2:40 but it will feel like 12:340ish. And beginning at 8PM tomorrow night
some of the clocks in my house will read eight while others read seven.
This is because I have a husband who likes to save time when he can by
doing things before they really need to get done. Some of us might
call it "efficient". Whatever the case may be, enjoy all those little
moments of your weekend and if you're lucky enough to get sixty
whole extra minutes, enjoy.
Maybe I'll jump into the HUGE pile of leaves in front of my house
with no regard to the time of day it might be.

My Tiles in a Funky Shop

I'm so excited!  My tiles have been installed in my friend's new boutique and they look very cool.  I showed you the tiles I had been working on in my previous post here.  Well now the store's complete and my funky tiles add a unique and colorful splash to the front window.  Andrea's done an amazing job putting together her little store in Larchmont, NY.  It's a wonderful cross between an upscale Soho boutique and a bohemian shop you would find in Woodstock.  Creamy walls compliment the dark, chocolate, wood floors while copper piping add a modern and unique way of displaying clothes.  I also love the shabby plum color she painted the shelves and the rich, multi-colored drapery.  The store looks fabulous and I wish her the best of luck!  If you're ever in the area, make sure to stop by Avenue P at 2105 Boston Post Road and tell Andrea that I sent you.

A Palette of Flowers

These are a few of the last of the photos I took right before Summer's end.
I think some of these flowers were ahead of themselves in terms of the season.
I did find a lot of color inspiration in these photos and created a few color palettes
from the actual photos.  Each palette below is in corresponding order with the photos above.

I'll make sure to share my newest designs with you based on the
above color combinations very soon.
